Ford August Sales at 9-Year High on Trucks, SUVs - 24/7 Wall St.

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) on Tuesday reported a U. S. sales increase of 5% year over year in August, to 234,237 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, compared with July 2014 sales of 222,174. Truck sales rose 11. 3% for the month, on top of a 5. 7% in July. Sales of the Ford F-Series pickups rose by 4. 7% in August to 71,332 units and sales year to date are now down just 0. 5%. F-Series August sales were the best in nine years. Truck sales comprise about 40% of all Ford brand sales and the F-Series pickups accounted for almost 32% of total sales in July. Ford’s Escape small SUV saw a sales decline of 0. 4% year over year, following a 10. 1% increase in July. Sales of the all-new Transit and Transit Connect totaled 14,258 units in August, and the new Transit has sold a total of 75,931 units for the year to date. Sales of the Lincoln brand rose 6% year over year in August while sales of Lincoln utility vehicles rose by nearly 17%.
