DeFAZIO ASKS DOT FOR DRONE POLICY IDEAS: In just over a week, T&I lawmakers will begin their mad dash to wrap up an FAA reauthorization — a bill that’s expected to be packed with drone directives. And the panel’s ranking member is making a kind of “help us help you” request of DOT, asking that the department lay out its drone policy needs to guide leaders in crafting those provisions. Peter DeFazio wants DOT to identify “resources, tools, and additional statutory authority” the FAA would need to prevent drones from crashing into planes and to come down on anyone who flies a drone “in a careless, reckless or otherwise...
