Sheriff requests almost $1M for vehicles in 2016 budget - Montgomery Advertiser

The Montgomery Sheriff's Office is asking for almost a million dollars for new vehicles and vehicle accessories in its 2015 fiscal year budget. That includes 31 new decked-out patrol vehicles, including four Harley Davidson motorcycles, 23 cruisers and four other vehicles. The current proposed budget puts the county at more than $73 million with the Montgomery Sheriff's office making up about 18 percent of the budget at $13. 2 million. That is $291,000 more than last year's Sheriff's budget, which totaled $12,918,778. This year, about 7. 6 percent of the Sheriff's budget is for new rides. In addition to SUVs and Crown Victoria cruisers, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department has Taurus style cruisers as well.
