Mizzou notes: DL Brantley will miss 2015 season - STLtoday.com

• Injured in a severe car accident last month, Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley is expected to make a full recovery and resume his football career. Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel confirmed Wednesday what most suspected after Brantley suffered multiple injuries in a single-car accident on June 21. The Tigers’ most experienced defensive lineman and perhaps best overall player will miss the entire... “He’s in good spirits,” Pinkel said at Southeastern Conference media days. He got hurt in many, many ways. Brantley has already undergone surgery for a broken leg and will need further surgery on his left knee in the coming weeks. Missouri women’s basketball player Maddie Stock also was in the car but suffered only minor injuries. “He’s going to go through tough times, naturally,” Pinkel said. “He’s very, very disappointed. We’re going to miss his leadership, his play. “He can get 100 percent healthy and be a great player and still accomplish all his goals and graduate,” Pinkel added. Brantley had 54 tackles last year and ranked among the SEC’s top defensive tackles with five sacks. With Brantley unavailable this fall, Pinkel said Josh Augusta and Rickey Hatley will have to pick up the slack. Logan will be part of the D-tackle mix, too, Pinkel said, as well as freshman Terry Beckner Jr. from East St. Louis. Source: www.stltoday.com
