Drunk driver hits Monroe County deputy responding to emergency call - WISH-TV

(WISH) — A Monroe County deputy is recovering after his police car was hit by a drunk driver on Sunday night. Deputy Alexander Hahn was driving northbound on State Road 37 near West Tapp Road with his emergency lights activated. A 2008 GMC Acadia that was traveling eastbound on West Tapp Road failed to stop for the deputy and struck Hanh’s police car, causing the car to spin into a 2004 Honda Pilot that was stopped at the intersection. The driver of the 2008 GMC Acadia, Leticia Cortes-Carbajal, failed her field sobriety test. Both Hahn and Cortes-Carbajal were taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital to be checked out. Cortes-Carbajal was treated and released to the Monroe County jail for preliminary charges of operation while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle while never receiving a driver’s license and was issued a citation for failing to yield to an...
