Drake McElroy - ESPN Action Sports

When Drake McElroy's name appeared on the Real Moto lineup we knew his part would include dirty facial hair and Franken-bikes. McElroy is the 2002 X Games Moto X Freestyle bronze medalist but has not competed in X Games since 2005. The inventor of the "Dead Body" air has been busy judging contests (X Games and X-Fighters), building custom bikes and having fun under two... McElroy, who turns 34 at the end of August, was the only Real Moto contestant to use more than one type of motorcycle in his video. While it is packed with a very random group of scenes, and very little dirt, the message is clear that he set out with this video part to make riding motorcycles appear enviably cool. X Games: Was the goal of your Real Moto part for it to be your interpretation of what "freeriding" is. Drake McElroy: Yeah. How come the concept of Real Moto didn't make you feel constrained to only be on dirt bikes. I wanted [to include] a lot of bikes. By using different bikes somebody might say, "Oh, I've ridden an old Honda Hawk. How many different bikes did you use. We rode nine different bikes: old bikes, new bikes, street bikes, dirt bikes. The oddest bike was a little chopper that has a suicide shifter that is a sword. Source: xgames.espn.go.com
