One dead, two critically injured in separate crashes in Contra Costa County - Contra Costa Times

A motorcyclist died, and a man and woman were seriously injured in two separate crashes in Contra Costa County early Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. The motorcycle wreck claimed the life of a 21-year-old Clayton man, the CHP said in a statement on its Contra Costa area Facebook page. He lost control of the 2003 Suzuki GSX-R759 slammed into a street sign while going east on Marsh Creek Road around 1:25 a. m. , the CHP said. Just more than 90 minutes later, a 1997 Honda Civic veered off southbound Kirker Pass Road, south of Hess Road and went through a barbed wire fence and down an embankment. The 37-year-old woman and 42-year-old man were hospitalized with major injuries. The CHP said the woman was driving the car, and they were determining if drugs and alcohol were involved.
