Police said Kendrick Keyanti Gregory, 21, shot and killed long-time business owner Thomas Durand at the Mr. Pawn Check Cashing on Capital Boulevard Monday evening. Gregory forced the teen into a car at gunpoint, according to a 911 call. The car believed to be use by Gregory was described as a Blue BMW, which was eventually found abandoned in the Brentwood neighborhood in Raleigh. The same BMW also linked Gregory to a Monday morning shooting at a hotel on New Bern Avenue. Police said Gregory shot Lenin Alvaringa, 27, in the back during that incident. As of 2013, Gregory has been charged 14 other times for crimes like felony larceny, carrying a concealed weapon and breaking into cars. After a multi-state manhunt, Gregory was captured Tuesday in New York City. A woman told police in New York her 2014 Honda Pilot had been stolen after she left her keys in the vehicle while making a quick trip inside a bank at the corner of Warren Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan, the New York Police Department said.
