Updated: Virginia State Police Investigate Louisa Co. Fatal Crash - NBC 29 News

Virginia State Police say a 2007 Hyundai Elantra crossed the center line and hit a 2005 Volvo head-on just before 9 a. m. Wednesday. The Volvo's driver, 28-year-old Sara Thaw of Bumpass, is being treated at the University of Virginia Medical Center for serious injuries. Police say a 1-year-old that was in the Volvo was not injured, and that both drivers were wearing seat belts. Louisa County- One man was killed following a two vehicle crash on Wednesday (August 12) in Louisa County. The crash occurred around 8:45 a. m. , on Belle Meade Road, three-quarters of a mile north of Sign Board Road. The trooper’s investigation revealed that a 2007 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on Belle Meade Road when it crossed over into the south bound lane striking a 2005 Volvo head-on. The driver of the 2005 Volvo, Sara D. Thaw, 28 of Bumpass, Virginia was transported to UVA Hospital via med-flight with serious injuries. The driver of the 2007 Hyundai Elantra, Michael S. Phillips, 18 of Bumpass, Virginia died at the scene. The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction team is assisting with the crash which remains under investigation. Source: www.nbc29.com
