A 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe was going west on the interstate when the driver crossed the median for an unknown reason and went east on the westbound inside shoulder, investigators said. The Hyundai rotated into travel lanes and was hit by a semi-trailer, which was trying to avoid the crash by going onto the shoulder, according to the release. The driver of the Hyundai, 36-year-old Gary D. Gritton from Oak Creek, and one of the passengers, 64-year-old Gail Gritton from Oak Creek, were transported to UW Hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said. A second passenger, 65-year-old Gary A. Gritton from Oak Creek, died in the crash. The driver of the semi, 25-year-old Osvaldo Galvez from Cicero, Illinois, and his passenger, 27-year-old Arturo Aguilar from Oak Crest, Illinois, were not injured in the crash.
