Disbarred lawyer could face jail time - Lincoln Times-News

After failing to deliver account records in connection to a trust fund he admits he mishandled, disbarred Denver attorney Peter Capece could be held in contempt of court and imprisoned later this week. Capece is scheduled to appear in front of Assistant Clerk of Superior Court Elizabeth Croom at 10 a. m. Thursday morning. The former Jonas Law Firm attorney has admitted to mishandling the $1. 5 million trust fund left to John Paul “Tols” Detmers by his father, Fritz. Capece, his wife, his former law firm and Detmers’ widow are defendants in a civil complaint filed to the Superior Court. A report commissioned by Michael Allen, who was recently appointed the administrator of Fritz Detmers’ estate, shows Capece extracted more than $100,000 from the trust for cell phone and mortgage payments, paying off shopping debt accumulated at... Capece also doled out improper payments to Detmers’ widow in an effort to discourage her from hiring attorneys to pry into Capece’s misconduct.
