Expansion Tubes

The expansion tube, better know as a fixed orifice tube (FOT), is a nonadjustable device that has a fixed orifice metering element and a fine-mesh strainer. Unlike the expansion valve, has not remote bulb and does not vary the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator in the same manner. The FOT meters the proper amount of refrigerant into the evaporator based on a pressure differential (High side to low side).
