Three charged in Paxton meth bust - Paxton Record

PAXTON — Three people have been criminally charged in connection with a rolling meth lab discovered during a traffic stop early Sunday morning in downtown Paxton. Paxton Police Chief Bob Bane said his agency conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon in the 200 block of North Market Street at 12:48 a. m. Sunday. Found in the car was a “rolling, working, cooking meth lab,” Bane said. Ford County State’s Attorney Randy Yedinak on Monday charged the trio with one count each of unlawful participation in methamphetamine production (less than 15 grams), a Class 1 felony. unlawful possession of anhydrous ammonia, a Class 1 felony. and unlawful possession of methamphetamine (5-15 grams), a Class 2 felony. Searcy and Forbes were each charged additionally with one count of unlawful use of property, a Class 2 felony, for allegedly using the car to make meth. Paxton police said in a criminal complaint filed in Ford County Circuit Court that after stopping the vehicle, the car’s occupants lied to police about Searcy’s identity. Police determined that Searcy was wanted on a Vermilion County warrant, so they asked him to step out of the car. “Due to the fact that the other subjects lied about Christopher’s identity, they were (also) asked to exit the vehicle,” the criminal complaint says.
