Kia’s design centers in Namyan, Korea, and Irvine, California, also had input on the Sportage’s new styling. Breaking: 2016 Kia Sportage Officially Unveiled Before Frankfurt - The Art of Gears

As is tradition nowadays, KIA has decided to unveil official photos of its 2016 KIA Sportage. The KIA Sportage has always been a strong contender in the small SUV segment but it looks like they’ve upped their exterior design language game for 2016. According to KIA Motors Global on their official tweet earlier today (Aug. 27, 2015) it looks like KIA has thoroughly updated its KIA Sportage to compete in overseas markets. Performance wise, details were scarce and would most likely become available as the Frankfurt Autoshow draws near, but right from the get-go, Kia has taken a page from its own name (Sportage) and added a bit more sporting credential. Nothing says off-road adventure-ish like large foglights so KIA has went ahead and gone for some really tall fog light units complete with four LED diodes. When we move to the side profile, the Sportage has really raked its front windshield by a few degrees compared the last model. Instead of a large trapezoidal indent like last years Sportage, this new Sportage has a nicely creased line that runs across both doors. Outback it looks like KIA might’ve taken a few cues from the BMW X5 of past years with taillights pushed to the sides and up. The rear view indicators are at the bottom corners. Kia's 2016 Sportage gets a fresh face, engines, and premium attitude - Digital Trends

It’s hard to believe Kia has already been through three generations of its compact crossover, the Sportage, but alas, the time has come for a new design. Official images with the fourth generation Kia Sportage have leaked online before the model is revealed next week, thanks to TheKoreanCarBlog (take a quick guess about the publication’s theme). Notable cues include pulled-back headlights, Kia’s now-signature quad-LED running lights, and new front and rear bumper designs. That also means engine options will carry over, including a 1. 6-liter engine with 132 horsepower and a turbocharged variant with 173 horsepower. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual for lower-spec trims, a six-speed automatic, and a new seven-speed dual clutch automatic. Front-wheel drive will be standard with permanent all-wheel drive available for a little extra coin. The 2016 Kia Sportage will roll onto the Frankfurt Motor Show’s floor mid-September, but its online debut will take place on August 25.
