Hyundai develops new high performance concept cars for N sub-brand - Gizmag

Now Hyundai is showing us the power of N. The Korean automaker will put focus on its performance sub-brand at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, shining the spotlight on three high-performance projects. The new 2016 i20 WRC will be there, as will an all-new Vision Gran Turismo show car and a mid-engined Veloster track concept. Hyundai is saving the details on the i20 WRC and Vision GT for Frankfurt, but we do know a little bit about the Veloster-based RM15 (Racing Midship 2015) concept because it was first revealed at the Seoul Motor Show back in April. A successor to the 2014 RM Veloster, the rear wheel-drive RM15 track car features a 2. 0-liter Theta T-GDI engine secured transversely between the two-seat cabin and rear axle. The mid-engine layout helps distribute the concept's weight in a 43:57 front:rear ratio and promises a much sportier drive than the front-engined production Veloster. Hyundai N cuts some 430 lb (195 kg) by using an aluminum spaceframe dressed in carbon fiber body panels, putting weight at 2,778 lb (1,260 kg). The body is reinforced with a WRC-inspired roll cage and features an aerodynamics kit with big rear... Read on to learn what we thought of our time behind the wheel of the 2014 Hyundai Veloster R-Spec. What We Drove Our 2014 Hyundai Veloster R-Spec comes powered by a 1. 6-liter turbo GDI four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission that delivers 201 horsepower and 195 lb. -ft. of torque. As this model is a stripped down version, there are no added features, bringing the total price for our model to $22,110, after the $810 destination charge. While there aren't any options, our test model benefits from a standard Ground Effects body kit and body color rear spoiler, Hyundai Blue Link, rearview camera, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette bolster seats and door inserts,... Safety features include standard airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, torque vectoring control, and front seatbelt pre-tensioners. Hyundai has launched a midlife update of its Veloster sports hatch with most of the changes being applied to the SR Turbo model including a higher spec variant, seven-speed double-clutch transmission, tweaked suspension and the option of a new... Four models are now offered, one more than before: Veloster, Veloster Plus, SR Turbo and the new SR Turbo Plus. Prices of the first two are unchanged at $24,490 and $29,490 respectively however $3000 has been lopped from the SR Turbo bringing it down to $29,990 while the new SR Turbo Plus is $33,990. Automatic transmission adds $2500 across the range. Importantly, the Series II Veloster still looks the same, which makes sense because, even though it's been around for three years, the sporty little Hyundai is still one of the most eye-catching cars on the road. One feature that we would have liked to have seen changed is the relatively conservative front grille on the Veloster and Veloster Plus which suffers in comparison to the large, open-mouthed opening in the SR Turbo models.
