SYDNEY (AP) Bart Cummings, one of Australia's most successful racehorse trainers who won the Melbourne Cup a record 12 times, has died at the age of 87. Cummings' grandson and training partner James said in a statement that Cummings died in his... ''His final moments were spent with his family and wife of 61 years, Valmae, with whom he celebrated their anniversary on Friday,'' the family statement said. Cummings had been in poor health recently and rarely ventured from his farm in recent years. He won his first Melbourne Cup with Light Fingers in 1965 and his last with Viewed in 2008. In 1965, 1966, 1974, 1975 and 1991, Cummings trained both the first- and second-place horses in Australia's richest and most prestigious race. He trained 266 Group One winners and had 758 stakes victories among nearly 7,000 winners. He also won numerous other top Australian races: seven Caulfield Cups, five Cox Plates and four Golden Slippers. He was made a member of the Order of Australia in 1982 for his services to the racing industry, and was later inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame. During the torch relay for the 2000 Sydney Games, Cummings carried the Olympic torch down the straight at Flemington race track in Melbourne. 1 injured in broadside collision - St. Cloud Times

A Bloomington man was hurt Thursday afternoon after a broadside collision in St. Cloud, but his infant daughter was uninjured. Two Honda Pilots were involved in a broadside collision around 3 p. m. at Minnesota Highway 15 and Veterans Drive. A 2008 Honda Pilot driven by Jimmy Otira, 28, of Bloomington, was traveling south on Highway 15 and went to make a left turn onto Veterans Drive. A 2014 Honda Pilot driven by Sung S. Johnson, 57, of St. Cloud, was traveling north and collided with the 2008 Pilot, according to the State Patrol. Otira was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening by the State Patrol. Source: www.sctimes.com

Before someone accuses me of comparing apples and oranges, let me point out that the Honda HR-V is built on the same platform as the subcompact Honda Jazz while the Peugeot 2008 is based on the Peugeot 208 mini hatchback’s extended chassis. So the HR-V and 2008 can be said to belong to the same subcompact SUV/ crossover segment as the Ford EcoSport, which has the same platform as the Ford Fiesta. The HR-V is the third new model to be launched by Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. If the Honda family of SUV/crossovers were to be compared to the Three Bears, the Pilot would be the Papa Bear, the CR-V the Mama Bear and the HR-V the Baby Bear.
