LDWF electronic licensing system down statewide - Louisiana Sportsman

--> A statewide computer failure of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries licensing system means licenses that just expired on June 30 will be good through at least Sunday, July 5, according to the department’s head of enforcement. Joseph Broussard said Friday afternoon that license computer problems started cropping up statewide last night, and continued into today (July 3), so he made the decision to allow licenses that technically expired on June 30 to remain valid... “We normally allow a little buffer on that, anyway, but we are currently honoring 2014 licenses through the Fourth of July weekend,” Broussard said “Right now the ball’s in our court for getting it fixed, so it’s obviously our problem. “Supposedly yesterday afternoon they had the issue resolved, but I got calls into the night last night, so at that point in time I went on ahead and made the decision to contact my folks and make sure that we didn’t get out there and write a bunch... Some licenses were granted and went through the system, while others didn’t. The computer vendor on the phone would take up to five people’s information per call and grant those licenses, and then the Wal-Mart representative had to hang up and wait on hold for another hour before five more people’s information could be given. Thieves steal pickup, possessions of girl with cancer PLAINFIELD, Ind. — Car thieves turned an already trying cross-country trip into a tragedy when they stole Amber and Jason Griffin's pickup truck from the parking lot of a motel here. — Car thieves turned an already trying cross-country trip into a tragedy when they stole Amber and Jason Griffin's pickup truck from the parking lot of a motel here. After learning that their 8-year-old daughter, Nevaeh, would need to get to California for cancer treatment, the Griffins packed about everything they own into their Ford F-250 and began driving to Los Angeles from their Pennsylvania home. They stopped Thursday night and got a room at Baymont Inn and Suites so Nevaeh, their 2-year-old son and their two dogs could rest. The Griffins have found support online with more than $55,000 in donations from people moved by the family's story. It had a goal of $10,000. The theft happened sometime between midnight Thursday and 9:30 a. m. Friday, according to Lt. Gary Tanner of the Plainfield Police Department. Tanner said the missing truck is a white, 2000 Ford F-250 4x4 with Pennsylvania license plate ZGM1239.
