Kerr was an assistant football coach under Don Howell from 1966-1997 in the golden era of Hobart football. , 1961-1962 and an eighth-grade coach at Hobart Junior High School, and 1962-1965. In 34 years of coaching, Kerr was part of just one losing season. The Hobart teams he helped coach won over 300 games, four state championships (1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993) and Hobart was a state runner-up seven times. HOBART | It's hard to believe that former Hobart assistant football coach Tom Kerr is not a native son of Hobart. Kerr, who moved to Hobart from Columbia City in 1954 when his dad took the superintendent's position, still goes to football practice everyday, despite being "retired" since 1997.
