Raptors claim District 5B title in sluggest - Daily Republic
Dimock-Emery won the District 5B title for the first time since 2011. "It's a lot easier on the mound if your offense is producing 12 runs against a good team," Dimock-Emery pitcher Josh Engquist said. "At the beginning of season we wanted to accomplish three goals: win the league, win district and win state. It's going to be a long run at state, but we are on a high note. "It went as expected, a lot of good players and a lot of good hitters," Dimock-Emery manager Brad Bartscher said. The game featured four home runs, with Dimock-Emery's Jason Schmidt and Sam Pischke each hitting three-run homers. Chris Marek hit two solo home runs for the Angels in the loss. Marek started the game on the mound for Alexandria and allowed five runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched. Cory Marek came in to relieve Chris Marek and allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Tyson Gau took over and pitched 3 1/3 innings for Alexandria. "Both sides were forced to throw the ball over the plate," Alexandria manager Chris Marek said. "When you are forced to throw the ball over the plate, two good teams are going to score a lot of runs. Kyle Larson started the game and for Dimock-Emery and allowed four runs in two innings pitched.
