now to marco soto and his decision to live. the gulf war veteran--- diagnosed with p-t-s-d. tonight- he found a "buddy" so he doesn't have to go it alone. our melissa correa reports on the new movement that could save a life. and i was stationed at andrews air force base in washington dc. four years of military service. air force-- gulf war-- medical readiness team. most memories are stored within marco soto. the mission native served from '94 to '98. life seemed fine until 2011. . i was t-boned by a lady in a chevy cavalier, when the cars were made of metal. the father of four-- hospitalized for six months. and i've got a reconstructed hip. i mean, i've gotten up-- plenty of times, where i've gotten up and just claps hands smash. the pain-- the smells from the crash, his injuries-- triggered the trauma of war. i am fully diagnosed with ptsd. the 43-year old takes four medications. they weren't enough three months ago. marco soto-- a husband and father- soaked in a tub, with a gun in his hand- and wanted to die. if it wasn't for that buddy of mine that came through, that taught me that buddy system that we're all taught joining the military, really worked. we talked about it and that was what dismantled or disarmed me-- was him coming in and i handed him the weapon.
