A license plate reader registered a hit on Leone’s 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier following a report of a missing and endangered driver, Tamagny said. Special Police Officer Steve Oxnard pulled Leone over on Grand Avenue at Christie Heights Street, but he hit the gas and sped off moments later, the captain said.
