Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I’d question the eyes of any beholders that would call the GLC300 an unattractive SUV. From virtually every angle, this Benz has poise and style to rival any other SUV on the market today. Taking sweeping design cues from the C-Class sedan (the GLC also rides on a raised C-Class platform), the GLC300 is instantly recognizable as a Mercedes, with good looks that are impossible to ignore. The roofline is high without looking ungainly, and the whole design tapers nicely to the rear, where wide LED taillights give this SUV undeniable presence. Add the right wheels (20-inch black AMG multi-spokes on my tester), a couple blacked-out design cues (thanks to the. Fitted with the Designo Black Leather Package ($3,950), the quilted Nappa leather seats and linden wood trim combine to make an interior fit for a monarch… or at least a Maybach. Every touchpoint that isn’t leather is covered with Mercedes’ excellent MB-Tex leatherette, and anything that looks like metal is, in fact, real metal.
