Acura TSX Recalled For Potential Engine Stall Problem - The Car Connection

According to Honda, the problem is road salt that may enter the vehicle on the driver’s shoes, saturating carpeting and then seeping through to damage the electronic control unit (ECU) located in the floor. This condition may cause rust or corrosion which, if excessive, can result in damage to the ECU, “potentially causing the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Honda said that it took time to determine that corrosion was the source of the problem and only this month decided that a recall was necessary. In a statement, Honda said that it is not aware of any accidents related to the problem. What Honda will do. Honda will notify owners and Acura dealers will then inspect the vehicle and replace the damaged ECU, if necessary. The Honda safety recall campaign, identified as S86, is expected to begin on April 11, 2013.
