Two Interstate 15 crashes in same spot Monday north of Blackfoot; one motorist ... - Idaho State Journal

BLACKFOOT—Emergency units responded to two accidents a little over an hour apart Monday on the same stretch of Interstate 15 and one of those crashes might involve a fatality. Both occurred near milepost 99. Authorities would not comment on whether the 5:22 p. m. wreck involved a fatality but reports indicate that a funeral home has been contacted about the accident. State police said they're not sure why the two wrecks occurred on the same stretch of interstate. Visibility was good and emergency units had cleared the scene prior to the second crash occurring, so it wasn't a case of motorists slowing to take a look at a wreck. The 5:22 p. m. crash involved at least two vehicles, state police said. emergency units were still on the scene of that wreck and northbound traffic on the interstate was backed up. Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area. UPDATE: The Idaho State Police announced that the second accident on I-15 claimed the life of Susan Horwith, 70, of Idaho Falls. Authorities said Julie Gustafson, 41, of Mesa, Arizona, was driving northbound on I-15 in a 2005 Acura TSX at approximately 5:22 p. m. near mile marker 99 when she was struck in the rear.
