All-wheel drive, a strong V-6 engine, plenty of high-tech features, and plenty of space make the 2011 Acura TL a strong contender in the luxury sedan market--despite its Honda Accord basis. Speaking of styling, the TL is a controversial car--something uncharacteristic for Honda or Acura--and not everyone will love it. Those that do are likely to be more technology-oriented, younger, or those just looking for something different. If you want Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), you'll move up to a 305-horsepower, 3. 7-liter V-6 borrowed from the larger Acura RL and paired with an optional manual transmission in addition to the standard automatic. Handling isn't brilliant, as the TL's front-heavy weight bias and soft suspension limit its mechanical grip, but in SH-AWD trim, it can feel almost as good as a more balanced rear-wheel drive sports sedan at about seven-tenths of the limit.
