A Southern California man who crashed a stolen car in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square while fleeing police, and then ran on foot, was eventually chased down and arrested on suspicion of charges including vehicle theft and having a dagger in his... The chase began at about 5:30 p. m. Saturday when an officer tried to pull over the driver of a red 1990 Acura Legend with a broken tail light on Railroad Street near Third Street, Sgt. Driver Nirut Honey Gowing, 32, did not stop and, as he drove away near Depot Park, crashed through a fire hydrant, a stop sign and several pedestrian safety barriers on the southwest corner of Fourth and Wilson streets, police said. Officers apprehended him on Wilson Street near Third Street and found a dagger in his pants pocket, police said. Gowing was a “self-admitted gang participant from Long Beach” and said he’s living with family in Petaluma, Cregan said. Gowing, who has a prior conviction for vehicle theft, was being held at the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail on suspicion of reckless evading, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools and concealed...
