Three Jersey City men and one from Carteret were arrested and charged with weapons offenses Tuesday night in connection with a shooting that left two people hospitalized with gunshot wounds, police said. At 10:43 p. m. , a pair of Jersey City police officers heard seven gunshots come from the area of the Salem Lafayette Housing complex and found one male victim and one female victim lying on the ground on Union Street between Martin Luther King... The male suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg just below the knee, and the female victim had a gunshot wound to her back area, police reports stated. Police found seven spent 9 mm shells on MLK Drive between Atlantic and Union streets, where the victims told police the incident occurred, the report stated. Two other Jersey City police officers driving in a marked vehicle observed a black two-door 1999 Acura CL driving north on Sackett Street at a high rate of speed around 10:50 p. m. , police said. Following with their emergency lights off, the officers observed four passengers in the car, including two in the rear ducking down and peering back at the marked police car, police said.
