Molto Elegante! The New Alfa Romeo Can Make Anyone Exude Sex Appeal - Town and Country Magazine (blog)

I'm one of the lucky ones. I learned to drive in the blue car above, a 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, and I still remember the thrill of easing out the clutch, feathering the gas, and lurching forward with a roar only the Italian mark can produce. Recently, I had the chance to drive the Spider (i. e. , convertible) version of the car New York to my hometown of Old Lyme, Connecticut, with my older brother Sam. From the second you see the car, you know its an Alfa. The design, by Alessandro Maccolini, exudes sex appeal, and as you slither into the all-carbon fiber tub, feeling anything but cool is not an option. Cool, but also hyperaware of the road, as the only thing between your posterior and the asphalt is a piece of carpet, some carbon fiber, and about two inches. Like my old Spider, the 4C is quirky. There's also no power steering, requiring you to muscle the car around sharp curves, and because of that proximity to the ground, you feel every nick and scratch in the road like a pothole.
