Teen jailed over NRL star's car escapes - SBS

A teenage girl jailed after buying a luxury car, stolen from NRL star Darius Boyd, for a small quantity of drugs is one of two prisoners to escape a Queensland jail. Queensland Corrective Services confirmed Hayley Gillespie, 19, escaped from Numinbah Correctional Centre with fellow inmate Mary Brimble on Friday afternoon. Gillespie was handed an 18 month-long sentence after she pleaded guilty to 57 charges in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on August 21. Gillespie's matter had previously been adjourned so the prosecution could determine when and where damage was... The car has a market value of $78,000. In sentencing, Magistrate Trevor Morgan said it was "gut-wrenchingly sad" to see the young woman heading to jail.
