New Year’s resolutions make or break time is here again. They give us a reason to take stock of where we are in life and consider what we might do to be less of a pain to ourselves – and, more importantly, to those poor souls who have to put up with us. . We’re well over a week into January now, and... There you go: that should make things pretty bleak in our house for a while. On the car front, this year I am determined to make as much effort as humanly possible to dislike as many new German cars as I can. My challenge will not be easy of course, as die Deutschen are so consistently annoying at being good at what they do. . Thank God, then, for this new Audi TT, which I just know I am going to hate. The Audi TT has been as triumphantly hideous a tortoise-shell of a car as one could ever wish to set eyes upon since its birth in 1998. I don’t know anyone I like who owns or has owned one. It has zero style and zero allure: not quite round enough to be cute, not pugnosed enough to be quirky, not squished enough to be bijou and not quite miserable enough to be interesting.
