We Are Your Friends - Helena Independent Record

We Are Your Friends At the Cinemark. (R) Grade: C+. Not a good omen for a movie when I’m the only one in the audience. I arrived fashionably late to “We Are Your Friends,” at about 17 minutes past show time, the precise time summer movies usually start when previews are finished. But as I walked into the auditorium, the lights were on and no movie was on the screen. One of my favorite Cinemark managers was standing in the auditorium, with an impish smile on her face: “Oh, no, not you. I asked her if she had turned off the movie for lack of interest, and she nodded saying that’s exactly what she did. “But I’ll go turn it back on for you,” she said, cheerfully. Usually that means row four or five. But today I chose the first row of the main auditorium, center seat. No rowdy moviegoers to ruin a perfectly mediocre movie. After I got home, I decided to see if fans were avoiding this movie in other cities as well. Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski are the steam engines who play hard to get until they both get got.
