The Korean car company has been making some great cars as of late, some even as good as their European rivals for much less money. A lot of this is thanks to some intelligent hiring by Kia, with the most significant one being ex-Audi designer Peter Schreyer who penned the original Audi TT. The three-door, warm-to-hot hatch shares the same 150kW/265Nm 1. 6-litre turbocharged engine that’s inside the Veloster Turbo, made by Kia’s sister brand Hyundai. It’s a punchy little engine, that gives more than enough poke throughout the range to dart through traffic and just enough to still leave a smile on your face when you’re putting the foot down through mountain roads. While it doesn’t have the liveliness of one of Ford’s hot hatches or the focus of a Renault Megane RS, it can certainly be pushed with some gusto around a corner. But where you notice the difference between the Pro_cee’d GT and other hot hatches is when you really want to push it.
