2008 BMW M6 Convertible - Car News - Car and Driver

BMW will likely hold the title of "World's Fastest Four-Seat Convertible" with the upcoming M6 cabriolet. To be fair, the M6 cabrio's rear seats are not fit for full-size humans, but there's room behind the front seats that is not available in, for example, the Mercedes-Benz SL-class. The M6 softtop, however, should be able to rip to 60 mph in about four seconds and effortlessly cruise at 150 mph. Soon the M5 will be available with a six-speed manual transmission, and we can only hope the manual box will migrate to the M6 line. Although the M6 cabrio won't have one of the coupe's cooler features — the carbon-fiber roof — it will have a three-layer softtop that powers open in about 25 seconds. Although we tend to appreciate folding hardtops, BMW's clothtop should adequately insulate the interior when it's raised. BMW has not released prices, but expect it to cost about $110,000 when it hits showrooms sometime next year. Source: www.caranddriver.com
