Police: Couple stopped with heroin, baby - Alton Telegraph

WOOD RIVER — Authorities are attempting for obtain a 2003 BMW 745 Li after the car was stopped with a significant amount of heroin — and an 11-month-old baby on board. A Wood River police officer said in a sworn statement filed in court that he stopped the car June 15 and found seven clear plastic capsules containing suspected heroin. Wood River Police and the State’s Attorney’s Office initiated the suit on July 8. The suspected drug was in the BMW occupied by a man and his girlfriend, both drug suspects, along with the woman’s baby. The car may be forfeited under the Illinois Controlled Substances Act and the Illinois Drug Asset Forfeiture Procedure Act. The state’s attorney’s office claims the car was used to transport drugs and the car was acquired with proceeds traceable to violations of drug laws.
