Drive-by shooting a first for quiet NE neighborhood - KRQE News 13

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A drive-by shooting rocked an Albuquerque neighborhood Thursday, where residents thought they were out of harm’s way. One woman who has lived on that street for the past 37 years said this was a first. “For this neighborhood, we’ve never had anything like that so it was something that instantly created fear in a lot of the neighbors,” Patrick McKinney, another neighbor, said. McKinney said it was around 9 p. m. Thursday when he heard about six shots fired outside his home. He describes it as a white mid-1980’s Cadillac Seville with a light-colored top. Those six shots were fired into an empty, street-side parked car a few houses down from McKinney’s. The victims have lived in that home for the past 10 years, they said. “It’s an indicator of a bigger problem that we have in this city,” McKinney said. Neighbors, like McKinney, said they worry that this kind of crime is trickling into their side of town and that it will happen again. Neighbors said they have not been told of any arrests related to the shooting. Source: krqe.com
