UPDATE: Second passenger dies from Saturday crash on I-35 - Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier

DOWS | A second person hurt in a crash on Interstate 35 near Dows last week has died. They were passengers in a Cadillac that was hit from behind by a Toyota 4Runner in a southbound lane about 10:15 a. m. Saturday near County Road C-47. The car was experiencing engine failure and couldn't get up to speed as it merged into traffic... The driver of the Cadillac, Cynthia Stensland, 57, of Lino Lakes, said she was going about 35 mph when the car was hit, the report stated. Cynthia Stensland and the driver of the Toyota, Kari Severson, 34, of Granger, were taken to Franklin General Hospital in Hampton for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger in Stensland's car, Robert Stensland, 87, and two children in Severson's sport-utility vehicle, Brie Severson, 6, and Beck Severson, 8, also were taken to Franklin General, the report states. DOWS | A 58-year-old Minnesota man was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle traffic accident on Interstate 35 in southern Franklin County. Six other people, including a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old, also were injured. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 11 a. m. near the 159 mile marker near the Dows exit.
