Businessman shot, killed on Southside - Corpus Christi Caller-Times

Henry Lozano III, 49, owner of Quality Redi Mix on McBride Lane was declared dead at Bay Area Hospital after being shot at least three times around 10:30 a. m. , officials said. Corpus Christi police Lt. Carlos Rios said Lozano got out of his truck at a stop sign on Slough Road at Rodd Field Road when a man in a white, four-door vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Corsica, with tinted windows, drove up next to him and began... Emergency responders said witnesses performed CPR on Lozano, who medics said was shot in the neck and face. Hours after the shooting, more than a dozen cars were parked outside Lozano's home in the Heather Ridge Estates neighborhood near the Nueces River where family and friends gathered to mourn. "It's the American dream, that's his story," Lozano's friend and banker Kevin Kaplan said. Lozano went to the University of Texas and paid for it by working throughout college, according to friends. After that the Corpus Christi native returned and found ways to give back to the community he loved, Kaplan said. Kaplan said Lozano was active in helping with the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show, loved the outdoors and being around people. The large group gathered at the home was helping to give strength to Lozano's family, which include his wife and their two daughters. Source: www.caller.com
