Arvada man gets 28 years in DUI crash that killed 17-year-old girl - The Denver Post

A 55-year-old Arvada man was sentenced Thursday to 28 years in prison for drunkenly causing a crash last year that left a 17-year-old girl dead and another teen seriously injured, prosecutors say. David Kenneth Bunn pleaded guilty in July to vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and first-degree assault in the September 2014 wreck that killed Lyneah Dike of Westminster. Dike, a high school senior, was in a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by an 18-year-old woman when Bunn slammed into them head-on along the 7500 block of Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada. The 18-year-old, Lyndsey Petrie, was seriously injured in the wreck. Prosecutors say Bunn was heading south on the boulevard and crossed several lanes of traffic as he veered into the northbound lanes and slammed into the Cobalt. "Bunn was driving under the influence of alcohol and texting at the time of the collision," Jefferson County prosecutors said. "His (blood alcohol level) was over 0. 2, which is over twice the legal limit. The legal blood alcohol limit for driving is. 08. "She was a very bubbly, happy girl who was always laughing," Mona Figolah, Dike's grandmother, told The Denver Post after the crash.
