A 1-year-old boy abducted by his biological mother Sunday night in Huntsville was taken during a home visit with an aunt in the process of adopting him. Giovanni Pickett - whose first birthday is Tuesday - was visiting his aunt in the Rocket City when, around 10 p. m. Sunday, he was snatched by 32-year-old Keysa Pryor. Darryl Lawson, a Huntsville police spokesman, said that the aunt, who lives on Melrose Road, had a DHR-approved home visit with the boy. "As part of (adoption) process, an in-house visit was granted for the weekend," Lawson said. When Pryor found out about the visit, she allegedly drove up from Birmingham, where she now lives, and told the aunt that she had been granted supervised visitation with the little boy. They are traveling in a red 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Alabama tag 1BD1132. Though investigators did not disclose Monday morning what led to Pryor losing custody of her son, Madison County court records show she has a history of drug abuse. She pleaded guilty the following July to felony obstruction of justice and was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended, with two years of supervised probation. In April 2010, Pryor was found to have violated her probation for not paying her fines as required, for failing to meet with her probation officer on several occasions and for testing positive for cocaine on multiple drug tests.
