Car strikes boy riding bike - Le Mars Daily Sentinel

LE MARS -- A young boy received minor injuries after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle on 12th Street Southeast, near the corner of Fourth Avenue Southeast, Monday. The boy, whose name has not been released, was traveling east in a private driveway when he entered 12th Street Southeast along the south curb, according to a press release. His front tire struck the left front corner of a vehicle traveling west on 12th Street Southeast, the press release stated. The vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was driven by Krista Boehm, 24, of Le Mars. The collision caused damage to the red Magma bicycle, as well as the left front corner and quarter panel of the Monte Carlo. It appeared to officers the boy may have been adjusting a backpack he was wearing and failed to see the Monte Carlo, according to the press release. Damage to the Monte Carlo is estimated at $2,000. Damage to the Magma Bicycle, owned by Melissa Alcorn, of Le Mars, is estimated at $75. Source: www.lemarssentinel.com
