Defendant found guilty of 2013 murder in Albany - The Albany Herald

ALBANY — Ronnie Darnell Holmes was found guilty of felony murder Friday for the April 2013 shooting death of Terry Mack in Albany. In addition, Holmes was convicted on related charges of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of firearm during commission of a felony. Police officials say the shooting occurred on April 11, 2013 around 11:30 p. m. as Mack, a dealer of illegal drugs, was sitting in his 1997 Chevrolet Blazer near 231 Cone St. Initial reports said an “unknown” person approached the driver’s side of... Holmes was charged additionally with two counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon. While not considered by the jury, following the reading of the verdicts Friday, Holmes pleaded guilty to those additional charges. Edwards said on Wednesday that both Holmes and Woods are believed to have partnered with Mack in the drug sale operation, and that Woods had pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine, a charge not listed in the indictment. According to Edwards, during the trial, Woods fulfilled at least one part of a negotiated agreement with the prosecutor’s office by testifying about Holmes’ role in the murder.
