US Marshals arrest woman who fled Berea court after sentencing - cleveland.com

BEREA, Ohio -- A North Canton woman who fled Berea Municipal Court shortly after she was sentenced to six months in jail was arrested Tuesday, according to U. S. Marshals. Marshals arrested 42-year-old Stephanie Rybkoski in Canton, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force said in a news release. Rybkoski ran out of the court July 31 and struck a bailiff with her car as she sped away, according to a police report. "After learning of Rybkoski's altercation at the Berea Court, our task force immediately made her capture a priority," U. S. Marshal Pete Elliot said. The Ohio Adult Parole Authority and Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force also sought Rybkoski for parole violations related to 2013 convictions for receiving stolen property, identity fraud and theft, according to U. S. Marshals. Rybkoski was in Berea Municipal Court for a sentencing hearing after being convicted of a theft that happened in Strongsville, according to court records. The bailiff followed Rybkoski to her 2001 Chevrolet Blazer and told her several times that she could not leave the courthouse. A Berea Municipal Court administrator said last week that it is not unusual for prisoners to be allowed into the lobby to make a phone call following sentencing. Source: www.cleveland.com
