Q: I recently had my rear brakes replaced and had some problems with it. After bring the car back to the shop twice, the brakes work, but they sound worse than when I put them in. I was hoping you can help me, or at least explain what the causes... The rear brakes were replaced, then after a day, I had to take the car back because it would only slow after the pedal was pressed down all the way. I was told there was air in the brake system, so they did what they had to. The next day, the same thing happened. But this time it was accompanied by squeaking and swooshing sounds when I braked and the smell of something burning. I was told the swooshing sound was my tires (they are worn down). The swooshing sound is still there, and when I press the brakes a bit firmly (as you have to sometimes), there is a grinding-clunk sound. Should I be concerned with the grinding-clunk sound. A: You should certainly be concerned about the grinding-clunk sound. The car is talking to you, saying, ‘help, help, help. You also mentioned you were not having a brake problem and were told it was time to replace the brakes. In my eyes, brakes and steering are the two most important factors on your car for safety. Eastern New Orleans man accused of abduction, rape of 13-year-old girl - NOLA.com

12) on suspicion of abducting and raping a 13-year-old girl who said he pulled her off a sidewalk and sexually assaulted her in June. Aaron Harris was booked with aggravated rape and second-degree kidnapping, after New Orleans police said the victim picked his photo from a lineup and identified him as her attacker. According to Harris' arrest documents, the victim told police she was abducted June 29 around 6:45 p. m. , as she walked home from her RTA bus stop at Gannon Road and Hayne Boulevard. The girl told police she felt she was being followed, and looked back to see a dark-colored Nissan "creeping behind her. She said the man driving the car jumped out, grabbed her by the arm and forced her into the back seat of his car. She told investigators the man stopped, pulled her out of the car, and warned that if she reported the attack he would kill her. The girl said that after the man drove off, she ran to a friend's house and called police. Special Victims Section Detective Jessica Williams wrote in her arrest warrant affidavit that the victim recognized the man from the neighborhood around the Bishop Morton Apartments. Etowah County Coroner Michael Head said Belvia Joan King, 75, was a passenger in a 2008 GMC Acadia that collided with a 2010 Nissan Altima about 9:50 a. m. today. The accident occurred at mile marker 119 about one mile from the 278 Trade Day. Head said the Altima, heading west on 278, apparently swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic to avoid hitting a vehicle and collided with the Acadia, which was traveling east. Source: www.al.com
