The C-Class was the entry to the prestige segment and still resonates as a solid choice. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was conceived to compete with the BMW 3 Series at the entry level of the prestige segment. When the W204 series C-Class arrived in 2007 it had the common Benz trait of coming in a bewildering range of variants on a central theme, in this case a compact rear-wheel drive sedan and wagon. Compared to its predecessor, it was longer and wider, rolled on a wider track and had a stiffer body. There was reasonable storage inside and the decent-sized boot accommodated a full-sized spare wheel. Engine choices were many, from a 1. 8-litre supercharged four-cylinder to a 3. 0-litre V6 on the petrol side and a 2. 1-litre four to a 3. 0-litre V6 in the diesel line-up. That’s not to say that the C-Class was below par on the road, it’s just that it progressed without the furious feedback expected of a BMW. The C-Class displayed impressive levels of grip with little body roll as it was being pushed hard through corners. There are now other models in the lower reaches of the Mercedes range but the C-Class is still an affordable model promising the panache of bigger Benzes. Source: www.carsguide.com.au

Using a good car is also a good idea, but what exactly "good" means in this situation is up for debate. On the other hand, if you plan on leading the cops on a long chase, fuel efficiency comes into play. Still, no matter how frugal your car is or how large the gas tank, you still won't be able to outrun the police based on this tactic since they have the luxury of swapping cars as they run out of fuel. With an all-new C-Class from Mercedes-Benz promising to be a huge seller both globally and domestically, the just-superseded model comes into its own as a second-hand buy. That's obviously down to the timing of recently being replaced by an all-new car, but also because Mercedes-Benz passenger cars have long been regarded as excellent used-car prospects. For a start, being a premium product with a premium price, second-hand values can plummet in the first handful of years, particularly if the model happens to be replaced as has happened here. But also, second-hand car-buyers know instinctively that Mercedes-Benz cars tend to be well made and able to go the distance over time and kilometres, making them less of a gamble than some of the other makes and models vying for the same dollar. And let's not forget for a moment that the just-replaced C-Class was a great car in its day, boasting both good equipment and safety levels when it was new, as well as a much better than average driving experience. But just to prove how good the basic car was, there's no real engineering trade-off in plumping for the cheaper version, and the C200 does a great job of transporting people and things in comfort and safety.
