2016 Toyota Tacoma Rear Drum Brakes – We Say Thumbs Up - Torque News

Toyota’s 2016 Tacoma has new updates to the V6 engine, has new transmissions, has a new interior, and a new exterior. However, look through the new rims at the rear of this truck and you will not see disc brakes. Were this a sports sedan, sports car, or even a sporty mid-size we would agree that drum brakes do seem out of place, but on a truck, not so much. Even with brake force distribution technology the front brakes are carrying most of the burden. Aaron Cole at TheTruthAboutCars asked Mike Swears, Tacoma’s Chief engineer, about the rear drums. This being an opinion piece, I will give you my six great reasons why I would prefer rear drums on a Tacoma. The first two reasons are the rear calipers on my (used) 1979 Toyota Celica Supra. Both froze, and I had almost no money back then to deal with it. The second two reasons are the two brake calipers at the back of my 2007 Toyota Highlander, both of which froze last year and were replaced at about the cost of the complete Supra... Weekend Cruising BMW i8 vs. Lexus IS 350C. This weekend I took the i8 out for a one-hour cruise through the some of the wealthiest towns in rural Massachusetts. While enjoying the i8 to the point of near ecstasy I passed another motorist in a Gen-3 Miata with the top down. He had his arm on the door frame, a smile on his face, and, of course, the top down. On a glorious 80-degree sunny summer late morning sharing roads with bikers and joggers do I need insane capability to have a blast while driving. Shouldn’t cars kept as fun cars be topless like the Lexus IS 350C. Spirited Driving i8 vs. IS 350C. The BMW i8 has more real-world capability than you can put to use on public roads. That is fine by me. I think a great second car should have that, but at some point aren't we just paying for too much performance. However, so too does the IS 350C. Auto Racing Capsules: Logano defends Bristol victory to hold off Gibbs drivers - Brownsville Herald

"It was kind of interesting to watch it in the mirror, I was watching him drive in and I was like, 'He's going to get me eventually,'" Logano said. We both found what works for us, and I really thought we were going to be able to pull away because I thought we were really good in the long run and then we didn't pull away. "It was a very exciting last 20, 30 laps for sure, and neat to be able to get a checkered flag again here at Bristol. "We are hitting it at the right time, that's for sure," Logano said. "I feel like we are right where we need to be. I can't wait for the Chase to start. Logano led 176 laps, second only to Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch, who led a race-high 192 laps. Harvick finished second for the 10th time this season. The reigning Sprint Cup champion has a career-best 17 top-five finishes this year and had his 250th career top-10 finish in 526 starts. "Obviously, you want to win races, but we're in position and feel like we can get that momentum swing at any point," Harvick said. "Just really excited to be able to run like this at Bristol.
