It comes in regular and long-wheelbase sized, with the long-wheelbase models stretched five inches. The lightweight material is used for all of the monocoque structure - and it's as close as a four-door sedan can be to being a true monocoque as much of the external skin is stressed, a technique first used by Jaguar in the racing D-Types of the... The XJR, the short-wheelbase supercharged high-performance model, has been successful since before the current generation of XJ debuted. So why not a high-performance long-wheelbase XJ. We seem to have reached a dead-end in car styling. I thought that by chance, they were all the same make and model, but closer inspection showed them to be a VW, Ford and Mazda. ''Looks like a tacky Mazda. ''- I work for a fleet management company, and deliver the Mazda6 (plus the CX5 and the 3) as well as all of its direct competitors, as well as more premium competition such as the BMW 3 and 5 Series, Audi A4 and A6, and Mercedes C and E Class. For the approximately 2. 0 litre diesel class (ie the majority of management level fleet cars in the UK) I rate the Mazda6 more highly than the premium brands- as do many of my colleagues. So to impress me, it would have to be significantly better to drive as a 2. 0 diesel than the 6. Agree with the comments about the styling. I hope Jaguar find their styling mojo again and start to produce cars that are 'unmistakeably Jaguar' (as previous generations were) without being overtly retro (the mistake made with the late S Type, the X Type, and the aluminium bodied X350 XJ)-...
