Man sentenced to 60 years in Millersville rape case - The Tennessean

A Kentucky man was sentenced to 60 years in prison last week after he was convicted in April of the rape and kidnapping of a 72-year-old Millersville-area woman in September 2013. Prosecutors argued that Johnathan D. Brown, 27, of Bowling Green,... It took a Robertson County jury less than an hour on April 15 to find Brown guilty of aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping and theft over $1,000 for his actions on Sept. Altogether, the maximum sentence for the charges was 132 years broken down into 60 years for the rape, 60 years for the kidnapping and 15 years for the theft, prosecutor Jason White said. He asked Gasaway to have Brown serve the sentences consecutively, or back to back, instead of concurrently, but the judge decided on the latter. “I’m happy with the conviction and I’m happy we were able to successfully argue that he was a career offender. Under the law, Brown will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, or 51 years, before he is eligible for release from prison, White said. “The aggravated rape and the especially aggravated kidnapping are violent offenses, and under the law, they are to be served at 100 percent, but there is a clause in the law that states an offender can get 15 percent off the sentence for good... “Even if he gets the reduction, he’ll still be 78 years old before he’s eligible for release. Piggins started with a Model 1512 utility sedan, a version of the 150 two-door sedan that Chevrolet introduced for 1957 and that came without a back seat and with fixed rear windows.
