Coroner IDs Man Killed In Crash Near Caldecott Tunnel - Patch.com

A man who was ejected from his car and killed in a rollover crash off state Highway 24 near Orinda Wednesday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 23-year-old Antioch resident David Sotelo. Sotelo was driving east on state Highway 24 in a 2002 Buick LeSabre when he collided with a 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550, California Highway Patrol officials said. The initial collision with the Mercedes created debris that also damaged a 2014 Lexus ES 350, CHP Officer John Fransen said. On Wednesday, Fransen said officers were looking into whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. Source: patch.com

An Antioch man pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on state Highway 24 near Orinda Wednesday afternoon was ejected from the vehicle during a rollover because he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, according to the CHP. The incident was reported just east of Wilder Road at 2:49 p. m. after an eastbound 2002 Buick LeSabre had a minor collision with a 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 then hit the embankment, going airborne and rolling over several times. The driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle while it rolled over.
